Paula to run Euro CC?
Former champion Paula Radcliffe could still be on the start line for the Norwich Union GB team in this year's Spar European Cross Country Championships.
After a whirlwind return to racing culminating in winning a third IAAF World Half Marathon Championship title on Saturday, Radcliffe has not ruled out competing in Edinburgh on December 14.
A month ago the Radcliffe management camp suggested she was more likely to favour chasing a third World Cross Country title next March in Brussels.
But last night husband and manager Gary Lough said: "Nothing is definite about her future races.
"There is a possibility she might do the European Cross Country. It certainly isn't ruled out, but nothing is firm."
Certainly UK Athletics would be delighted if Radcliffe carried the British flag in the Scottish capital, which is hosting the Championships on home soil for the first time in eight years.
Although on current form, Radcliffe would be tipped to easily win a second gold medal, the prestige of producing a home winner would be a massive bonus for the sport after a poor World Championships in August.
However Lough after his wife's marvellous victory in Vilamoura where she finished 87 seconds ahead of defending champion Berhane Adere of Ethiopia, stressed nothing is finalised about her future plans.
Indeed before flying to the United States yesterday, Lough again insisted Radcliffe's racing programme was being decided on an almost daily basis.
The only definite fact is the World Marathon record holder is not planning any further appearances in the immediate future after a superb sequence of winning four world class races in the last five weeks.
Lough said: "Please don't read anything into the trip, " amid suggestions Radcliffe might compete in the New York City Marathon on November 2.
"We're flying to Portland and not planning for Paula to compete again until November and there are the options of a couple of races including the Ekiden in Japan."
